HOUSEHOLD MANAGERS & FAMILY ASSISTANTS
More Support for Your Home. More Time for Your Family.
Managing a household can involve much more than childcare.
Between school schedules, appointments, activities, errands, groceries, household organization, and everyday responsibilities, families often need an extra set of dependable hands.
A Household Manager or Family Assistant can also help reduce the mental load that comes with managing family life by keeping schedules, errands, appointments, and home logistics organized and moving forward.
Jess’ Way helps families find Household Managers and Family Assistants who can provide customized support based on the needs, schedule, and lifestyle of each household.
WHAT IS A HOUSEHOLD MANAGER OR FAMILY ASSISTANT?
A Household Manager or Family Assistant helps keep the day-to-day needs of a household organized and running smoothly.
Their role is not only about completing individual tasks. It can also help reduce the mental load for parents by anticipating needs, keeping track of schedules and responsibilities, and helping manage the many moving parts of family life.
Every position is different.
Some roles may focus primarily on children and family schedules, while others may include a broader combination of household organization, errands, transportation, and administrative support.
Jess’ Way works with each family to understand the responsibilities they need help with and to identify qualified candidates who align with the position.
HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT MAY INCLUDE:
• Household organization
• Children’s scheduling and activities
• Calendar and appointment management
• Family errands
• Grocery shopping
• Children’s laundry
• Light household support related to the children and family
• School and activity coordination
• Transportation support
• Appointment transportation
• Pick-ups and drop-offs
• Customized family assistance
TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT
Transportation is no longer offered as a separate Jess’ Way service.
Instead, transportation support may be incorporated into a Household Manager or Family Assistant position depending on the needs of the family.
This may include:
• School pick-up and drop-off
• Transportation to activities
• Appointment transportation
• Running family-related errands
• Other agreed-upon transportation responsibilities
Transportation responsibilities should be clearly discussed and included as part of the position before placement.
CUSTOMIZED TO YOUR FAMILY
No two households operate the same way.
That is why Jess’ Way does not take a one-size-fits-all approach to Household Manager and Family Assistant positions.
We take time to learn about:
• Your family’s schedule
• The ages and needs of your children
• Household responsibilities
• Transportation needs
• Weekly hours
• Desired duties
• Experience requirements
• Your family’s priorities and preferences
From there, we can help define the role and begin looking for candidates who align with your needs.
WHO MAY BENEFIT FROM THIS SERVICE?
A Household Manager or Family Assistant may be a good fit for:
• Busy working parents
• Families managing multiple children and activities
• Families who need support beyond traditional childcare
• Households with complex schedules
• Parents who need help reducing the mental load of managing schedules and home logistics
• Parents who need help with errands and organization
• Families needing transportation support
• Families looking for one person who can help coordinate multiple areas of family life
HOUSEHOLD MANAGER VS. TRADITIONAL NANNY
A traditional nanny primarily focuses on the care and development of children.
A Household Manager or Family Assistant may have a broader role that combines childcare-related responsibilities with additional household and family support.
The exact responsibilities should always be clearly defined based on the needs of the family and the agreed-upon position.
COMPENSATION
Household Manager / Family Assistant positions have a minimum schedule of 20 hours per week.
Compensation typically ranges from $20–$35+ per hour, depending on:
• Experience
• Schedule
• Number of hours
• Responsibilities
• Transportation requirements
• Number of children
• Complexity of the position
• Specific needs of the household
The appropriate compensation should reflect the responsibilities and experience required for the role.
OUR MATCHING APPROACH
Jess’ Way focuses on finding qualified candidates who align with the needs and preferences of each family.

Candidates are carefully vetted, including background checks and reference checks, so families can feel confident in the household and family support they receive.
We don’t just match résumés.
We match people.
